With our One-on-One Fitness Support program our Fitness Support Specialists will support you in more private and focused setting, developing a structure that is flexible and unique to your personal challenges. It is the commitment to this structure that makes our clients’ progress successful.

The FMH team are certified fitness professionals who have been trained to understand the various barriers that many face, as most of us have faced them ourselves.

Our clients come to us from all walks of life. Counselors, doctors and psychotherapists will send referrals, and often individuals will find us on their own.

Tell me more details about One-on-One Fitness Support!

  • Along with traditional exercise prescription, our certified personal trainers have been specially trained through our Fitness Support Specialist program on how to support someone who is living with a mental illness in the most basic send. This could include implementing mindfulness tools, habit/lifestyle coaching and other forms of physical-based therapy.

    Regular One-on-One Sessions are 60 minutes, though in some cases we can provide options for shorter durations. We tailor the intensity of the exercise to your needs, meeting you where you are at to help youprogress both physically and mentally.

    Session can involve strength, cardio/conditioning, mobility and more. Often times breathwork, gentler movements and even meditation can be enough to achieve results. Consistency is key in building long-term success.

  • Along with being fitness professionals — such as personal trainers or group exercise instructors — Fitness Support Specialists (FSS) are trained on how to support someone who is living with a mental illness, in the most basic sense. An FSS:

    • Has an an added level of understanding of what somebody might be going through who’s experiencing a mental health challenge

    • Can steer the focus on feeling well, and has various tools that can provide support to their clients.

    • Has a unique ability to modify and adapt different exercises and approaches, which helps their clients fit fitness into their life in an accessible way.

  • Finding an ideal workout space can be one of the most common barriers to accessing fitness. We work to break down these barriers wherever we can. Many of our Fitness Support Specialists are able to provide Mobile, on-site support where you live.

    Currently we offer One-on-One Fitness Support Sessions at the following spaces:

    • Mobile (Client’s Dwelling)
    • Outdoor
    • Virtual

    Some of our Fitness Support Specialists may also have access to a designated fitness space (In-Home, Studio, Membership Club, etc.).

  • As part of our commitment to providing accessible fitness for everyone, we are trained to be able to provide our One-on-One Fitness Support Sessions with or without having traditional fitness equipment on hand.

  • It’s important to note that WE ARE NOT doctors, psychotherapists, social workers or primary caregivers, and our services cannot substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

    Fitness Support Specialists are specialliy trained and equiped to work within a team of health professionals to help achieve the best possible outcomes. This could include family physicians, clinicians, social workers, psychotherapists, nutritionists, manual therapists and other wellness professionals.
